🔸 1980 – Prevention of Black Marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Act

  • Aimed to detain individuals involved in activities like hoarding and black marketing of essential commodities.
  • Provided preventive detention powers to authorities.

🔸 1981 – Essential Commodities (Special Provisions) Act

  • This allowed for summary trials for offenses under the ECA.
  • Aimed at speedy prosecution of those violating the Essential Commodities Act.

🔸 1993 – Kerosene Price Control Order

  • Government-regulated kerosene prices to ensure affordable access, especially for rural and low-income populations.

🔸 1995 – Drug Price Control Order (DPCO)

  • Brought under the ECA to control the prices of essential medicines.
  • Ensured availability of life-saving drugs at fair prices.
